IMPACT launches sky bridges linking Exhibition Hall and the Lake side to facilitate over 5 million visitors to the country’s largest fair of the year, BOI Fair 2011

IMPACT launches sky bridges connecting the Convention Center and the Lake side to welcome BOI Fair 2011. The sky bridges were built at a total cost of Bt90 million to facilitate over 5 million exhibitors and visitors to the 16-day fair, which will take place from January 5th – 20th, 2011.

Mr. Paul Kanjanapas, Managing Director of IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd., which operates IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center Muang Thong Thani, said the upcoming BOI Fair 2011 scheduled for January 5th – 20th, 2011 will take up a total area of 240,000 square meters, both indoor and outdoor, including the Challenger Hall, the Convention Center, and the Lake side, and is expected to attract over 5 million visitors. The BOI Fair 2011 will also feature the exhibition in honor to His majesty the King. In preparation for the event, IMPACT has built sky bridges connecting the Convention Center and the Lake side to provide a faster, safer, and more convenient way for the exhibitors and the visitors to explore indoor and outdoor product showcase and exhibition without having to worry about traffic or road conditions that could waste their time.

The sky bridges have been designed to have a network of metal beams and dual pillar structure with a total length of 240 meters. Meanwhile, the floor will be covered with hollow core concrete planks or box girders. In addition, the walls are made of metal woven in Truss structure to take the weight from the automatic walkway and the roof which is covered with metal sheets. The sky bridges are 6 meters wide and equipped with a 131.3 meter automatic walkway extension to provide convenience for the visitors. The total construction cost is Bt90 million. 

The construction was completed on December 15th, 2011 and all operating systems have been tested. And the BOI Fair 2011 will be the first IMPACT-held event to be facilitated with the sky bridges. This is the latest facility in

IMPACT’s ongoing development after the major boost at the venue which included construction of parking garage Phase 2, renovation of the Convention Center, improvement of Muang Thong Thani project’s main road, installation of lighting and CCTV cameras, to ensure exhibitors and visitors to the BOI Fair 2011 have the most convenient way to getting around the venue.
