IMPACT has MERS-CoV preventive measures in place to ensure visitors’ safety

Published : 2015-06-19

As the host venue, which is certified to TIS 22300 MICE Security Management System, IMPACT takes seriously the need to ensure everyone’s safety and peace of mind by setting the best possible preventive measures against the virus. In addition, a Crisis Management Team (CMT) has been designated to oversee and follow up the management of the outbreak as well as constantly monitor the global MERS-CoV situation.

In addition, IMPACT has coordinated with the Department of Medical Services for the provision of more than 30 medical personnel to strictly monitor and screen individuals suspected to have MERS-CoV infection, plus five ambulances on standby. Preventive measures against MERS-CoV set by IMPACT are as follows:

  1. All entry points to the event are equipped with thermal scanners and screening staff to screen MERS suspects.
  2. Delegates from infected country will be screened with thermal guns.
  3. A special screening room overseen by personnel from the Ministry of Public Health is designated to isolate individuals who appear to have flu-like symptoms (e.g. having temperature of 38 degrees Celsius and above) and coordinate with the disease control center.
  4. Posters with information on the outbreak, available in both Thai and English languages, have been produced to raise awareness about MERS-CoV and ways to prevent the virus.
  5. Protective equipment including face masks and hand-sanitizing gels are provided.
  6. The number of cleaning rounds and staff are increased to keep the venue clean at all times.
  7. The organizer and the working team are constantly provided with updates on the situation.

Although IMPACT is confident that Suvarnabhumi International Airport and other international airports in the country have effective screening measures on international arriving passengers including delegates attending Herbalife Asia Pacific Extravaganza 2015, it is committed to implementing measures to effectively prevent
MERS-CoV infection.
