CONCRETE ASIA 2016, THE LARGEST CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION SHOW IN ASEAN SET TO PROVIDE THE BEST PLATFORM FOR THE ASEAN CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY WITH THE UPCOMING ASEAN ECONOMIC COMMUNITY (AEC)
Published : 2015-10-28
The ASIAN CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION INSTITUTE (ACCI) together with Globe International Events Consultancy Pte Ltd (GIEC) officially announced the launch of CONCRETE ASIA 2016, the international conference and exhibition focusing on concrete machinery equipment tools and technology for the construction industry. CONCRETE ASIA 2016 is managed by IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd. The event aims to support the Thai construction industry that is worth over a hundred billion baht in 2016. Also, the neighboring countries of Thailand have increasingly invested in the construction of new buildings and improving on their transport infrastructure for the upcoming AEC. More than 200 top brands and companies in the concrete construction industry will be exhibiting their innovation and technology on over 13,000 square meters of exhibit space (both indoor & outdoor) and this includes a series of international workshops and seminars with renowned professional speakers from the industry. The expected number of professional trade visitors is anticipated to be around 15,000 during the 3 days trade show at Hall 4, IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center.
Ms. Rosalind Ng, Managing Director, GIEC stated: “We are foreseeing an exceptional high growth rate of Thai construction industry in 2016. Based on the information from the Construction Institute of Thailand in the first quarter of 2015, the Thai construction industry was growing at an annual rate of 16.5% and worth 293 billion baht with government investment contributing approximately 162.4 billion baht. This means there is a 37.7% growth rate compared to the previous year. The Thai construction industry is predicted to hit 540 billion baht in 2016due to the rapid increase in the construction of government & commercial buildings, greater investment in real estate and more transportation related projects such as the new sky train and subway lines in Bangkok and the surrounding suburbs. Moreover, the construction industry in neighboring countries is also set to experience significant growth in 2016 as a result of increasing foreign direct investment and government investment due to greater awareness of an interest in the upcoming AEC.”
Mr. Loy Joon How, General Manager, IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd. said: “It is a great pleasure for IMPACT Exhibition Management to be working alongside professional partners like the ACCI & GIEC for such an exciting show for the ASEAN construction industry. This exhibition will be co-located with 3 other exhibitions (Building Maintenance & Facility Management Expo, Green Building & Retrofits Expo and PULIRE Asia Pacific) in a total area of more than 25,000 Square meters under the ASIAN Construction Week. Concrete Asia 2016 will serve as a key trade, knowledge & networking hub for the construction industry in ASEAN, gathering together the key players around the world to exchange notions and provide business partnership opportunities between more than 200 leading companies/brands and 15,000 professional trade buyers from 21th – 23th September 2016 at Hall 4 (indoor &outdoor area) at IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Bangkok, Thailand.”
Asian Concrete Construction Institute (ACCI) was registered in Singapore as a not-for-profit organization in May 2004. Presently, China, including Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Thailand are represented in the Institute.
Unlike developed regions such as Europe and the United States of America, Asia lags far behind in the development of institutions to foster the development of the industry. Many Asian countries like Malaysia and Singapore lack the critical mass to move the industry from the traditional skill-based industry to a knowledge-based industry. By pooling resources with our regional neighbors who share many cultural and environmental similarities, smaller countries can catch up with the advances of the industry. Larger Asian countries, like China and India, similarly see the benefit of joining the Institute to network with the region. Together, the Asian industry can gain from these collaborations, which can lead to the reduction of trade and tariff barriers, free movement of professionals and technical operatives, and sharing of research, design, and maintenance of concrete structures.
