K-Beauty Expo Bangkok 2016

The press conference was attended by over 100 people including members of the Thai and Korean press, local buyers, and representatives of the exhibition host and organizer.
At the press conference, KINTEX President &CEO Chang-Yuel Lim said, "K-Beauty Expo Bangkok 2016 represents an excellent opportunity to develop close economic cooperation between Korea and Thailand." To ensure the success of the event whose 150 prominent Korean exhibitors will drive beauty trends, Lim pledged the full support of KINTEX.
As 2016 represents the first year of K-Beauty Expo Bangkok, it will be held concurrently with the largest local beauty industry exhibition, Beyond Beauty ASEAN Bangkok (BBAB). This event is co-managed by Informa, an international beauty exhibition organizer and IMPACT, Thailand’s largest venue operator and exhibition organizer.
Representatives of Informa and IMPACT also attended this press conference, and Ms. Selena Li, Project Director, Informa said, “It is expected that the two exhibitions will generate a significant synergy effect.”
In regard to K-Beauty Expo Bangkok 2016, Mr. Loy Joon How, General Manager, IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd. stated, “It is our hope that this event will expand the popularity of K-beauty in Thailand while strengthening the impact of BBAB.”
150 prominent Korean beauty companies will participate in K-Beauty Expo Bangkok 2016to showcase various Korean beauty products and the latest in Korean beauty trends. Interest in Korean beauty products in Thailand is rising due in part to the popularity of Korean drama, Descendants of the Sun, as well as well-known Korean entertainers. In Thailand, the power of the Korean Wave has gone beyond dramas and K-pop to include the beauty industry.
Lalida Jivanantapravat, Department of International Trade Promotion Ministry of Commerce The Royal Thai Government, who visited Korea in April for the ASEAN-Korea Technology Cooperation Seminar: Cosmetics, mentioned that, “Korean cosmetics accounts for the8th largest portion of Thailand’s total cosmetics imports and that particularly in the last 3 years, imports of Korean cosmetics have increased almost 80 percent.”
Organizers of the event stated that the key to the popularity of K-beauty is not just a result of the Korean Wave, but due to continuous R&D for products like BB cream and cushion packs which have attained a strong market presence globally.
K-Beauty Expo Bangkok 2016 will offer attendees the opportunity to personally experience a full range of Korean beauty products including cosmetics, hair and nail care, inner beauty food, smart beauty devices, cosmeceutical, andmedical service. K-Beauty Expo Bangkok 2016 will include make-up demonstrations, a hair styling show, and a Korean beauty industry trend seminar focusing on the latest in K-beauty.
KINTEX Executive Vice President Sang-Wook Kim said, “KINTEX will team up with KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency) to introduce buyers from 10 ASEAN countries to the 150 participating companies through business matchmaking.”Stated Kim, “The business matchmaking program is expected to result in active business exchanges between Korea, Thailand and ASEAN countries. As we plan to include a Korean celebrity autograph event and other special programs related to the Korean Wave, I expect that K-Beauty Expo Bangkok 2016 will become the heart of the Korean Wave in Thailand and look forward to a lot of local interest and support.”
