MEA co-hosts LED Expo Thailand 2018 and PCB Expo Thailand 2018, in response to call for innovation in line with Thailand's economic policy

The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) aims to drive the country towards Thailand 4.0 and to become the world’s next mega-city. More than more than 250 exhibitors from Thailand and the rest of the world are showcasing the latest innovations in lighting, LED products and PCB at the three-day trade event, from 10 to 12 May 2018, at Challenger 1, IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Bangkok, Thailand. More than 15,000 trade visitors are expected.

H.E. Air Chief Marshal Prajin Chantong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice of Thailand; and Mr. Ruj Herabat, Deputy Governor (Business), MEA, graced the opening ceremony of the 6th edition of LED Expo Thailand 2018 (LED Expo) - ASEAN’s largest exhibition on LED products and technology; and the 3rd edition of PCB Expo Thailand 2018 (PCB Expo) - ASEAN's only dedicated exhibition on printed circuit board manufacturing and electronics assemblies.

“We would like to welcome and thank MEA as our host organization. There are many highlight activities this year, including the Thailand LED Summit; Lighting Workshop on Architectural and Landscape; as well as iLightConnect – featuring speakers from across the globe addressing smart lighting, lighting festivals and hotel value creation. Together with the showcases from more than 10 countries, LED Expo and PCB Expo are truly the trade platforms, where the industry gathers to network, upgrade and do business,” said Mr. Loy Joon How, General Manager, IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd.

H.E. Air Chief Marshal Prajin Chantong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice of Thailand, revealed, “Thailand government’s 20-year National Strategy, under the leadership of Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, the master plan is to drive the Thailand 4.0 policy, by enhancing competitiveness in all industries, especially the technology and innovation groups that are the key to driving the country's economy, such as the digital and robotics industries.

LED Expo and PCB Expo, gathers lighting innovation and PCB advancements from Thailand and internationally; as well as knowledge-sharing through seminars, is particularly useful for developing related industries, driving Thailand into stability prosperity and sustainability.”

Mr.Ruj Herabat, Deputy Governor (Business), MEA, said, “ MEA is pleased to be the host organisation of LED Expo and PCB Expo, as we are aware that rapid growth in technology  is required to drive Thailand to prosperity, security and sustainability. MEA, the state enterprise in charge of improving the quality of electric power distribution system gears up to support the Thailand 4.0 policy by launching the campaign, “the MetGE: METRO GRID ENABLER.” It will improve the electric power system stability and distribution system with innovative technologies. The Smart Metro Project is expected to build competitiveness in the economy and raise the quality of life sustainably. Additionally, MEA has a plan to replace the overhead line by underground cable system, with a total distance of 214.6 km. This project will be completed by the year 2021. Together with MEA’s smart life application – a mobile application that monitors electrical bills, allows users to check electricity recording dates, payment due dates, locations for counter services and augmented reality (AR), as well as to compare distances of counter services based on their current locations. In conjunction with MEA’s this year, MEA is committed to become the “Smart Metro”, which drives Thailand to become a robust metropolis in ASEAN. All projects will be showcased in LED Expo and PCB Expo.”

Ms.Nichapa Yoswee, Senior Vice President-Business, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), said “On behalf of the government agency with a mission to promote, support and develop the MICE industry in Thailand for driving Thailand to be the center to organize international exhibitions and events, TCEB has a policy to use international exhibitions as a tool to drive government’s policy, Thailand 4.0, and support exhibitions in ‘10 industries S-Curve’, for contributing to the Thai economy, to become a technology and innovation-driven economy. Supporting LED Expo and PCB Expo, is in line with TCEB's policy because energy and electronic industries are in the S-Curve industry. TCEB is confident that Connect Business and Exhibiz in Market campaigns will stimulate business negotiations, along with exchange of ideas on technology and innovation development.”
