Published : 2025-03-27

IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd, Asia's largest venue operator, has announced the accomplishment of the most recent ISO 20121:2024 certification for sustainable event management. This significant milestone establishes IMPACT as Thailand's first exhibition and conference center to fulfill the new international standard, indicating a stronger commitment to environmental responsibility and ethical event practices.

The revised ISO 20121: 2024 standard provides a framework for event-related companies to manage their environmental, social, and economic implications. The most recent version prioritizes diversity, human rights, and the production of good event legacies, expanding on the previous 2012 edition's emphasis on incorporating sustainability into daily routines. With the debut of “Sustainable Event Package,” the company has garnered positive feedback from more than 217 sustainable events during 2023 – 2024.

Kunwadee Jintavorn, Executive Director of IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd, said that the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center’s sustainability commitment remains unwavering and abided by the three pillars or principles of environmental, social, and economic sustainability or ESG. Sustainability is not just a policy for us; it's ingrained in our daily operations and future vision. We created this new sustainable event package for environmentally conscious customers as a sustainable alternative. The new sustainable event package is categorized into 1) weddings, 2) meetings, 3) exhibitions, 4) concerts, and 5) festivals. Each has different components but adheres to the same concept, which is “Make a Sustainable Difference.

“We offer plant-based protein menu options, reusable decorative products, glass water bottles to reduce plastic waste, seasonal produce, fruits, and ingredients that are locally sourced and grown by suppliers who prioritize sustainability, water refill stations, and set up exhibition signage to encourage customers to host an environmentally sustainable event and reduce carbon footprint.”

“We reduce, reuse, and recycle waste and use energy effectively. To that end, many projects have already been undertaken. The installation of solar roof panels have been complete for all buildings along with the Energy Reduction Project to decrease greenhouse gas emissions, the Waste Sorting Project, Food Waste Transformation Program using food waste composters to remove liquid from food waste and turn it into compost for trees. Leftovers are donated to nonprofit organizations. Recycling bins are strategically placed throughout the venue to separate wastes and leftovers,” said Kunwadee.

During 2023 – 2024, the venue hosted 217 sustainable events, of which 1 was concert, 13 were exhibitions, 86 were meetings, 18 were corporate parties, 59 were weddings, and 40 were offsite catering events that included Best of Fujii Kaze 2020 – 2024 ASIA TOUR in Bangkok, Makro HoReCa, Environmental and Waste Management Expo (EnWaste Expo,) The 16th VPAT Regional Veterinary Congress 2024 (VRVC 2024,) Dominion Life International organized by Dominion Life International, TP&T Party, The Spark of Freedom Event spearheaded by Amnesty International Thailand, and VIP Ministry of Finance Meeting orchestrated by The Rightzone Co., Ltd.
