IMPACT First MICE Operator in Thailand to Earn ISO 22000 Certification
Published : 2011-04-02
(April 2012) IMPACT Muang Thong Thani is proud to announce its latest achievement, earning the ISO 22000 certification for Food Safety Management. IMPACT is the first MICE operator in Thailand to achieve this international standard. Over 30 million baht was invested in facility renovations in addition to training and awareness programs for personnel to meet the stringent requirements and raise awareness of each employees' performance. The team effort and attention to proper procedures helped pave the way for earning the ISO 22000 certification.
Mr. Chawanich Sirisinghol, Director of Food and Beverage of IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd., the owner of IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center or IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, stated IMPACT has now officially been certificated ISO 22000 compliant or Food Safety Management System after implementing the standard throughout all F&B operations.
IMPACT invested over 30 million baht to renovate kitchen structures, equipment, infrastructure, and uniforms as well as established a team for internal checks. Training and awareness programs were developed for personnel to be aware of how their individual job performance could influence food safety as well as deliver competencies they need.
With full support from the management team, the F&B team with other related departments initiated the standard processes and procedures by researching material and ingredient control laws, restrictions, and prohibitions on food for each region and country. IMPACT also supported its staff to participate in the training as recommended by Q & A Quality and Calibration Co., Ltd., a food standard specialist company.
Every process in the food chain from production to transportation, storage, and cooking of each of the 3,268 menus has been thoroughly checked and approved for food hygiene. To aid in testing, a special laboratory was built. For drinking water, sources and water containers needed to be carefully monitored and inspected to be in accordance with the food safety policy.
Because food and beverage safety are major concerns for both domestic and international visitors, IMPACT was committed to developing a food and safety management system based on the ISO 22000 standard. The implementation of ISO 22000 had been in practice since November 2011, but due to the flooding the final evaluation was delayed. Following the official accreditation, IMPACT is now more than ready to serve over 15 million exhibitors and visitors yearly at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani with the best F&B services.
