LED Expo

Bangkok, Thailand, 26 April 2018 - Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) is pleased to be the host organisation of the 6th edition of LED Expo Thailand 2018 (LED Expo 2018), ASEAN’s largest exhibition on LED products and technology; and the 3rd edition of PCB Expo Thailand 2018 (PCB Expo 2018), ASEAN's largest and only exhibition on printed circuit board manufacturing and electronics assemblies. These two trade exhibitions are organised by IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd. and MEX Exhibitions Pvt. Ltd, and will take place at Challenger 1, IMPACT Exhibition Center, Bangkok, Thailand, from 10 to 12 May 2018.

LED Expo 2018 and PCB Expo 2018 will bring together more than 250 exhibitors showcasing smart lighting systems and innovation; LED products including smart metro project and MEA smart life application, under the theme “Future of LED”. Some highlights from the printed circuit board industry include Surface Mount Technology (SMT) showcase - the fabrication process that substitutes the through-hole mounting of PCB components with direct placement on the PCB surface. The two exhibitions are expected to attract over 15,000 trade participants.

Smart Metro: the future of smart cableless and poleless city

Mr. Ruj Herabat, Deputy Governor (business), Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), mentioned “MEA recognizes that the rapid growth of technology has an important role in our lifestyle. So MEA is launching an organization campaign, “the MetGE: METRO GRID ENABLER”. It will improve the electric power system stability and distribution system with innovative technologies. Smart Metro Project is expected to build competitiveness in the economy and raise the quality of life sustainably. Additionally, MEA has a plan to replace the overhead line by underground cable system, with a total distance of 214.6 km. This project will be completed by the year 2021. Currently, a total distance 43.5 km has been completed, including Phayathai Road, Sukhumvit Road, Phitsanulok Road, Ayutthaya Road, and accelerated in two routes Rama 1 Road and Ratchaprarop Road. The MEA smart life application - a mobile application that monitors electrical bills, allows users to check electricity recording dates, payment due dates, locations for counter services and augmented reality (AR), as well as to compare distances of counter services based on their current locations. It also alerts users to power outages when the MEA undergoes system maintenance. Likewise, users can report power downtime and send feedback with photo attachments and location coordinates. These projects will be showcased in LED Expo Thailand 2018 and PCB Expo Thailand 2018.

Enhance the efficiency of PCB with Surface Mount Technology (SMT)

“ASEAN's largest and only exhibition on printed circuit board manufacturing and electronics assemblies, is all geared up a host of new and practical show activities. The show is in its third edition and is growing year after year. One of the focus areas this year is surface mount technology (SMT). As technology becomes more complex and compact with time, the fabrication process that substitutes the through-hole mounting of PCB components with direct placement on the PCB surface. The components are mounted on the surface of the printed circuit boards and many are minute in size.It is more effective than using traditional components with wire leads. We are proud to present the PCB Technical Conference and Workshop, with support by the Thai Embedded Systems Association (TESA) and Innovative Experiment Co., Ltd (INEX)” Mr. Loy Joon How added.
